Indian Cricket without Dhoni

“India lifts the world cup after 28 years and it’s the Indian captain finishing off things in style celebration has already begun in the dressing room” these words by Indian cricket legend Ravi Shastri truly has mesmerised and intrigued into the hearts of every Indian cricket fan.

Dhoni ! Dhoni ! Dhoni ! while the crowd chants, do you ever wonder what would have happened to Indian cricket if Mahendra Singh Dhoni could not have made to Indian cricket.

MSD is obviously India’s most successful captain but there are various things that wouldn’t have turned into gold without his grace.

We looked into some of the things that might have turned up differently if this cricketing star would not have turned up!!

No Best Wicket-keeper or Batsman or No Best Finisher and No Best Captain

When it comes to best man wicketkeeper, batsman people compare Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist. When it comes to best captain people compare Dhoni and Ricky Ponting. When it comes to best finisher Dhoni is compared to Michael Bevan. While there is no denying that Indians are lucky to have all these quality in one player i.e MSD.

No Rohit or Jadeja and Murli Vijay Show

Dhoni was often mocked for his bias selection for some players. There is no denying that India’s one of the best opener – Rohit Sharma, Best All Rounder – Jadeja and the one guy on whom Indian test cricket can rely on – Murli Vijay were given more chances by Dhoni. Well, lucky India that this wouldn’t have been possible without MSD.

No Chennai Super Kings

There’s no doubt that MSD is India’s most successful, captain but besides this, he is also Indian Premiere Leagues(IPL) most successful Captain. Captaining Chennai Super Kings for 8 years CSK is no doubt best IPL team till date

  • Two IPL titles 2009 and 2010.
  • Two Champions League T20 titles.

No World Cup and No Champions Trophy

MSD is one to fulfill the dream to Cricket God Sachin Tendulkar and also 1.2 billion Indians. Yuvraj might have won the man of the series awards but you know how they say!! “Even 99 runs don’t have the glamour of a century”. If MSD would not be magnificent on the night of finals the result could have been different for his valiant performance. Man of the match was adjudged to MSD. Here are a some of the feathers from his hat

  • ICC World Cup Twenty-20.
  • CB series of 2007-08.
  • 2010 Asia Cup.
  • 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.
  • 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
